Simple Search

Compiled by Nicholas Lander

Instructions

  1. Use the query form below to search through all the files at this site!
  2. Use one or more words, each separated by one space. (The fewer words you use, the quicker the search.)
  3. DO NOT use 'and' or 'or' between your search words. The 'Look for' and 'Case' controls do that for you.
  4. Avoid using articles and prepositions such as a, and, the, of, on, etc. This will slow the search. If you are looking for a phrase such as 'The Sweet and Bitter Flute' try entering 'Sweet Bitter Flute' using 'Look for All Words'. This will generate a list of links to all of the pages that contain both of those words.
  5. The 'Look for All Words' results will be links to every page that contains ALL of the words you entered. Example: 'recorder sonata' will result in a list of all pages that contain the words 'recorder' and 'sonata' but not necessarily in that order.
  6. The 'Look for Any Words' results will be links to every page that contains ANY of the words you entered. Example: 'recorder csakan' will result in a list of all pages that contain either one of the words, but not necessarily both of the words.
  7. Once you have received your list of targets, follow the links and use your browser's Find function to assist in locating exactly what it is you are searching for.
  8. European characters with diacritic marks are something of a problem for this search engine and are best avoided.
  9. Note that this facility cannot search the large amounts of information held in the various datasets underlying the Recorder Home Page. These must be accessed directly via the the Search Tools option in the menu bar at the top of this and all other pages on this web-site.
