Most of the woods are familiar to players. Caranda is dense, stable and resonant. Vambona is one of the Madagascar rosewoods, farily light in weight. Guatemalan rosewood is light in weight. Mexican is not a true rosewood, and is dense and resonant but not very stable.
My recorders are mostly bought by the more experienced amateur players, usually people who play other instruments or who can sing. They value them because of their quality of sound, tuning and dynamic balance. My recorders are usually not liked by rank amateurs, or by recorder teachers. In particular, don't buy my recorders if you are looking for uneven dynamics within an instrument, or between instruments. For example, don't buy if you want a treble recorder four times as loud on its top notes as its bottom, or if you want a descant four times as loud as a treble.
Recorders are not usually available from stock. No payment is needed, at the time of ordering, for out of stock instruments.
I am prepared to refund the purchase price provided that a recorder is returned undamaged, within two weeks of delivery.
