|Country||United Kingdom (UK)|
|Address 1||Inland Cottage, The Vauld, Marden, Hereford HR1 3HA|
|Instruments||Makes a recorder without a windway, in effect a notch flute.|
|Notes||This new instrument is played by putting the head against the lower lip and chin so that the edge is level with the gap between the lips. Formation of the lip shape, angle of blowing and air pressure must be learnt, as with the transverse flute, but the fingering is the same as for a reorder.|
The thumb-hole can be used in the same way as it is on the recorder, or the shift between registers can be done with the embouchure alone, it is up to the player.
